You know something Buster, remarkably, I have it on good authority that the NSW Breeders Association actually SUPPORTED THIS CHANGE at HRA level, this despite the fact that HRNSW voted AGAINST it.

Hiding behind non de plumes to pot people.... one of the things I hate about the internet! Had a hard time with some cheap shots about people close to me a few years ago... people can be so gutless and their remarks can be anything further from the truth! Don't know why Triple, but I had visions of Babar o.O That would make your coat green. lol

I'm gazing into my Crystal Balll as I type this and I see a vision of Buster. There's a surname coming out of the mist...it's a little hazy...hard to make out...looks like...yes, I think it is....yes, he has the same surname as Reg, Kerry-Ann, Ted and a great English Landscape Artist from the early 1800's. Howzat for someone in disguise, sitting in front of his PC whilst dressed like the Love Child of Groucho Marx and ZZ Top? Whaddya reckon Buster? :-)

you know of all the authorities i asked about these rules, not one has gotten back to me about it, ie what the benefits are supposed to be
triplev can you PM what your take on this is? i just looked up the new nsw breeders future bonuses, which are recently changed so that instead of owners being eligble for 3x 2k bonuses at 2 and 3 for wins, breeders now get 3k for 1 win in 2 and 3 yr old season and owners get 2.5k for each win
surely i have it wrong? no way the breeder should be entitled to that amount?

Buster, I would happily PM you my take on it... if only I knew what a PM was? ? The problem with this change of definiton is that it causes no end of hassle for Futurities that pay out a 'Breeder's Bonus cheque. The term 'breeder' was always used to denote the owner of the mare at time of foaling...the term 'foaling' obviously including freeze branding, dna, rego etc. with rego including a component which was the initial payment towards, for example, the NSW Breeders Challenge. That WAS the basis on which any Breeders Bonus $ would then be paid out. Now, with HRA to date inexplicably moving the goalposts...the only way those $ would go to the right person, he/she/those who owned the mare, had foaled her down, raised and sold or had kept to race the resultant foal....would be if the term 'breeder' with its new definition was immediately replaced in the Futurity rules & regs by 'nominator'...thus covering the actual owner of the mare and foal right from the get go and duly clipping the previous owner of the mare at time of LDOS right out of the picture all together as far as any Breeders Bonus $ being forthcoming was concerned.

By the way, I suspect the reason why none of them have gotten back to you is either
a) they can't answer you because they simply don't know how to
or
b) they were to varying degrees complicit in the below the radar way in which this went through at a National level.
As I said at the outset of this thread, I keep my ear very close to the ground & I did not hear so much as a peep about this from anyone or from anywhere. Disgraceful. There was NOTHING about it in any Industry media, nor print, nor website, nothing. Zip. Apparently it has gotten as far as the various state Breeders Associations and that was about it. Makes you wonder doesn't it? Brings back disturbing memories of HRA under Rod Pollock apparently trying to single-handedly run that 'sign up for the EI clean-up levy' through the back door despite very few people being aware of what was going on.
